Lakes and Rainbows
Within the last week I have the opportunity to guide on two beautiful Montana lakes. When we arrived one of the lakes the local outfitter told us that we were the first group to ever fish the lake! It was good. That day, Robert Stewart and I enjoyed seeing our anglers catch football sized rainbows in solitude. Not a bad alternative to muddy water and chuck and duck fishing.
Yesterday, at Jones Lake we had a great time enjoying an unbelievably calm day that produced some amazing fish. The fish in Jones are more like watermelons than like footballs. Again the stillwater fishing was an excellent alternative to battling the current runoff. Jones lake is a treat for any fisherman and was definitely the place to be yesterday. Incidentally, the big fish in the picture ate a damsel nymph fished with a slow strip on a floating line.
