Stillwater River

This beautiful river is anything but still.  It’s fast, filled with endless structure, home to an exceptionally high quantity of fish and fortunately a little out of the way.  The Stillwater River is a place where a person belongs during the Montana summer!  The float fishing, as with the Boulder River, is done from rafts and is generally happening from early to mid-July and goes through August.  Big foam flies, caddis, and every once in a while a random bead-head will complement a highly predictable smile during a day on this river.  Take a look at some of these photos and imagine a big dry fly floating through a clear riffle towards some eager fish…
