Scenic Float and 1st Time Flyfishing
One of the most rewarding things for a fishing guide to be a part of is helping a first time flyfisherman catch their first fish on a fly. It’s exciting, usually bumbling, and sometimes for the fisherman – surprising. Well today I had the good fortune to be called by Sweetwater Flyshop to take two ladies on a scenic float on the Yellowstone River. Margo and Kathy, two good friends, wanted to enjoy a leisurely float and Kathy, first time flyfisher, just happened to want to try a little fly fishing. As it turns out Kathy is quite an angler and today she became a full fledged member of the “people who have caught fish on the fly club.” It didn’t take long and Kathy was into them. Margo and Kathy also rowed the boat and watched me fish!!!! Yes it’s true, I was the luckiest guide on the river today by far. Thanks to Sweetwater Flyshop and especially Margo and Kathy for putting this great day together! Here are a few pics of Kathy meeting some Yellowstone River fish…
