Yellowstone Backcountry Flyfishing Trip

Amongst the diversity of this year’s summer fishing the prize jewel for me has been a backcountry horse trip deep into the Yellowstone National Park backcountry.  The trip was total removal from normal life and consequent full immersion into paradise.  The horse’s, mules and awesome horse packers and cooks were from Wyoming’s 7D ranch and the fishing was guided by yours truly.  I count myself lucky to have gotten to go into the backcountry with great friends and to be exposed to something that had been concealed behind a curtain to me for my entire life.  This trip was five days and four nights.  It was personalized and private.  The scenery and wilderness are unmatched.  The professionalism and expertise of the 7D was extraordinary.   This is one trip that I highly recommend. Without a track or sign of human presence the fishing was beyond expectations.  Black foam fly = Cutthroat madness.  Here are a few pictures from the trip…

These two caught more fish than should be allowed. Pre-bacon breakfast warm-up.
